Frequently Asked Questions

Is gum disease reversible?

Early-stage gum disease (gingivitis) is fully reversible with a professional clean and improved home care. More advanced periodontitis can be managed and stabilised, though it cannot be fully reversed.

Does scaling and root planing hurt?

We numb the area thoroughly before starting. Most patients feel mild tenderness for a day or two afterward, which resolves on its own. We provide aftercare instructions.

How can I tell if I have gum disease?

Common signs include bleeding when brushing, swollen or red gums, persistent bad breath, gum recession or loose teeth. If you notice any of these, book a check-up. Earlier treatment is always easier.

What causes bad breath?

Persistent bad breath is almost always caused by bacteria on the tongue, between the teeth or below the gumline. We find the source and treat it directly.

Is gum disease treatment covered by insurance?

Periodontal treatment is covered under many insurance plans. We verify your benefits and handle the paperwork.

Can I get sedation for gum treatment?

Yes. Nitrous oxide and oral sedation are available for anxious patients or complex gum work. Ask us which option suits you.
