What is NIHB?
Dental care for First Nations and Inuit patients
The Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program is a federal program administered by Health Canada that provides a range of health benefits to eligible First Nations and Inuit people across Canada — including dental services, vision care, medications, and more.
Edmonton West Dental is a registered NIHB dental provider. We work directly with Health Canada to verify your eligibility and submit all claims on your behalf — so you can focus on your health, not the paperwork.
Our team includes Dr. Greg ZoBell and Dr. Deb Crowfoot — members of the Ahtakahkoop Cree Nation and First Nations communities. They bring personal understanding of community healthcare needs and a deep commitment to making dental care accessible and welcoming for every patient.

Fillings
Tooth-coloured and amalgam fillings to restore decayed or damaged teeth.
Extractions
Simple and surgical tooth extractions when required for your oral health.
Root Canals (with limitations)
Root canal therapy for eligible teeth — subject to NIHB guidelines and pre-authorization for some cases.
Dentures (with pre-authorization)
Complete and partial dentures with required pre-authorization from Health Canada.
Emergency care
Same-day emergency dental treatment for pain relief and urgent oral health needs.
Coverage subject to individual eligibility — we verify benefits before treatment. Pre-authorization is required for some services. Our team handles the verification process for you.
